Re: Finally started my ATI install!!!!! (StealDads67)
Well congrats...yeah when you first start it....it blows my mind how loud mine was i even asked Jason (ATI GUY) why is it so loud he said (It's not?) but i guess that is how they sound and act...but he said over time they will get quiter and not be so loud but i have alot of miles on mine and guess what it still sounds the same i go to bed at night and still hear the wine in my ears when i am trying to sleep! Just a little FYI....when the car is cold dont go over 3000rpm till she is a little warm then it is go time.... but that is what my ati guy said....but have you got on it and do you have a boost gauge in it? oh also the more you drive it the more the computer will get use to the extra air and such.... :D Dude so glad another hear another ATI survivor made it threw the install.....like i said it is a killer kit but the instructions suck!
I have the boost gauge on but I need to hook up the backlighting. I only bumped the throttle to 2000RPM and I noticed no boost. I just saw on ATI's website though that the Surge Valve prevents boost while not under load so, all I have to do is hook up my FP gauge and I'm going to take her for a ride tonight :)
I just hope it doesn't rain like it's been doing for the past week!! :mad
Re: Finally started my ATI install!!!!! (Scott94C4)
Be sure to take some tools on the first run............I had some ducting blow loose on the first run.......thought i had them tight but they have to be REAL tight.........dam hose clamps......great satisfaction in doing it your self...good luck.
Well, I took it for a drive last night and gotta say.
I'm veeeery disappointed! :(
I'm going to wait until I get my chip back to make a decision or not, but I gotta tell you, I didn't really notice anything on the top end, but I noticed some torque on the downlow...not a lot though. When I gunned it off the line it bogged so I know I'm running really rich. I was unable to get the gauges backlit so I couldn't see them at night, so I will take it for a spin when I get home today and make sure I'm getting proper boost. I really hope I don't have a lot of belt slippage either.

All in all, I was just soooo happy to be driving it last night. Even with the way it's running, I'd love to hit a cruise-in this weekend
Oh and another thing. What I said about it being so loud. Well, once I dropped the car off the jackstands and closed the hood it got considerably more quiet. At cruise you can't really hear anything but a slight high pitched wistle. I got the standard cut (loud) gears and now I'm a little disappointed that it's not louder. :yesnod:  But now it's definitely a sleeper :yesnod:
So you coudl not tell what kind of boost you where making? well like i said it is 2 things just need to lean it out a little to get some power of of it...and what size of pulley do you have on it and you still have the stock crank pulley on right? well i am sure when you get it tuned you will be having alot of fun! yeah when i drove mine oh i was pist :cuss i was only making i think 4psi and it felt so slow no power at all...i dyno'd at 329 at the back wheel at 3 or 4 psi but on my new motor oh god..... 11's easy with a 3.7 pulley so if you need more boost i have a 4.0 pulley at home!
I'll have to see how much boost I'm making first. I think it's not making much. I noticed though that when I pulled back in from drive, I popped the hood and had a burned rubber smell. My neighbor said it's probably just the new belts and hoses breaking in and heating up. :skep:
My neighbor said it's probably just the new belts and hoses breaking in and heating up. :skep:
Yeah neighbors always know and he is probably right! i know my new 383 smelt like :U and after all and all she is fine! but what size of pulley do you have now?
To tell you the truth I don't know what the diameter is. I asked for an 8lb pulley and supposedly that's what I got. I guess I should have measured it huh. :(
I have bought three prochargers and I told them each time what boost I wanted and all three times it came up short. Instead of buying a smaller pulley for the blower and then not having enough belt wrap and belt slip why not have asp build a bigger crank pulley. this will turn the water pump a little faster but don't think that would be a problem. :leaving:
Re: Finally started my ATI install!!!!! (black bart)
Doesn't it void your warratny to change the pulley too unless you send it back for them to do it? Makes more sense to put on a bigger crank pulley as bart suggests ;).
oh you have a p1 i am sorry i thought you had a d1 yeah your pulley is going to be smaller to spin that baby!
I thought it seemed smaller than 5" like you said. I'll measure it tomorrow when I'm not so drunk.

You're absolutely right. And that is a good reason to change your crank pulley instead.....however, the crank pulley is part of the balancer....how costly will that be?
I paid asp $650 for a 8 rib blower pulley, belt, modification of my vortech bracket/tensioner and modification of the crank pulley. They modify the stock pulley/balancer by adding an aluminum groved pulley around the outside of the balancer part. My crank pulley is 7.6"
Re: Finally started my ATI install!!!!! (Ronnie_W)
You got a 6 rib serpentine drive. Its sucks. ATI don't make a 8 ribs set up for your car. Unless you have a it custom made, the above mentioned. I am making my own cogged drive, Big thanks to TJWong for his design/drawings and fellow co workers with help doing programming on the CNC machine and custom grind tooling for the cog teeth.
