Default Skip shift question - I must be blind!

I posted questions earlier about the eliminator kit and thought I had it figured out. Now I don't have back up lights, but thought the skip shift eliminator was working. I just read that the skip shift doesn't activate under 175 degrees or so. When I tested, I didn't get the car that hot (had also just put in 160 thermostat).

I seem to have chosed the wrong sensor/solenoid to "eliminate" does anyone have good photos or diagram of where the skip shift solenoid actually is? I am embarrased that this is causing me such a headache.

Thanks and sorry to post again!

Dont worry about the repost!! Your just on the wrong side of the transmission. Just reconnect your back up lights and move to the other side of the trans and you cant miss the CAGS connector. Just bring a flashlight with you when you crawl under the car.

Is the skip shift solenoid on the drivers side or passenger?

Hmm, that's the side I disconnected and I thought it was the only solenoid in the area indicated in the diagram I got with the kit.

its on the drivers side and the plug for the back up lights is on the driver's side as well. The seloid has to black groung wires going to it. Mine does because I yanked them out! :) I did that by mistake but I killed the skip shift! ehehehh

Thanks to those that responded and offered help. I got it! I did have the eliminator in the backup light harness. Changes and all work fine now!

I may not be blind, but I feel pretty stupid for missing something so easy! :conehead

Vette Ed,
I got mine at Jeg's. They carry a name brand and their own "Jeg's" brand. The Jeg's piece is $10 cheaper. To be honest, I didn't even see what Eckler's or MAD sells them for. I paid $29 - seem high for what it is, but well worth it. Drove the car to work today and really like the mod.

Congrats on the LT-4 - killer motor!

Great to see you finally got it working. I did not use a eliminator on mine. I just disco'd the plug, and sealed the ends with tape and electronic jell. Allot cheaper to go this route. I as well as many others have never thrown a code by not using the eliminator.
