What is the going rate to change plugs? I never paid anyone to replace my plugs so it seems like an easy way to make a little pocket change. $45 seems like a lot to me but then again I do most of my own work. By the way what are iridiums? I've used NGK plugs before but never heard of iridiums. Tell you one thing, NGK plugs are very good quality but I don't have them in the Vette. I've used them on motorcycles and lawn mowers. I have the stock plugs in my Vette and they work just fine.

I noticed the same benefits when I installed the NGK iridiums. And it wasn't because the plugs I removed were worn out-- removed a set of OEM AC 41-906's that had only 6000 miles on them. I didn't like the possibility of the platinum pucks coming off the OEM's, so I did a 'peace-of-mind' plug change  Don't regret it at all.

If I paid people to work on my car then I would be pissed if it was that much for an L98, but happy if I had an LT1/4.

Ive changed plugs on both - didnt seem much different between L98 & LT1 to me. Its really not that difficult on the LT1 - except for No. 8. #*)@_@$!!!!! But a bit of patience and a good ratchet and socket gets it done.

For the driver's bank , I pull back the cruise control (about 3 bolts with extensions on a ratchet) and just cruise on through it!

In total for the mechanically inclined, I would say about 60 to 90 minutes of your time.

Got the irrdiums in my LT1 - will never go back!

Any body have the Part # for 92 LT1 Iridiums. NGK's web site list's TR55VX Platinum for the 92 LT1.

Thanks...

I first changed my plugs to Bocsh plat 4's, Found out I hated them. Drove to the parts store, bought NGK's and changed 'em out when I got home.. I was in such a hurry I put a huge shop fan under hood to cool engine enough for me to change them without getting 3rd degree burns. The process wasn't that difficult! I think by the second time, I could change out a set in about an hour.

I'd like to know too. The NGK website doesn't offer a lot of help for finding the Iridium plugs.

Mine felt great at first too. I just hope they dont foul on you (leaving me with a no-start condition) like they did on me (due to a bad o2 sensor),. The problem is they are more susceptible to fouling than your standard plug.

I put in a set of the Bosch plus 4's about two hundred miles ago. Took about 15 min. to change the first seven and 90 min to change number 8 ! The old plugs were the oem's with 46k on em. Runs perfect. So why didn't you like them? :chevy
