This engine is almost identical to the 90-91 L98 motors, 250hp stock. It adds a 4bolt block, forged crank, LT4 connecting rods and a slightly larger camshaft. You will not see 350hp if you put on the stock TPI intake. My guess is the cam will bump the hp to 270 or so. Add some long tube headers, and dual exhaust and you would probably be over 300hp and 410tq.
lots of people have used the block, and the crate motor minus the intake manifold (its carbed)
But you WILL NOT get the advertised power from the ZZ4 with the TPI intake put on it. The TPI chokes the motor. You have those nice heads, and decent cam, but an intake that doesnt flow the adequate amount of air.
Now if you put something like a MR or SR on it, youd get that power rating.
Re: information about ZZ4 engine (fourthgencorvette)
My ZZ4 only lasted about 5000 miles then spun some main bearings. I was told I might be able to get some warranty work done on it but at that point I wanted to go to a mini-rammed 383 anyhow so I did.

 :( :cry
I just put one in my '88. In fact, I just started it up last night and haven't driven it yet. I used the TPI setup, but worked it over with the Dremel real good. I'm sure it will choke the HP down some.. I may go to a SR when my pocketbook recovers a bit.
Putting the ZZ4 in was a piece of cake, really. As mentioned above you'll have to use your original distributor (use the drive gear off of the new one). The 8" balancer won't fit as-is, but some have made it work: I switched to a Streetdampr. You can't use the water pump that comes on the ZZ4, and your factory one will most likely hit the timing cover bolts. Some people swap the ZZ4's plastic timing cover for their original; I ground down one bolt head and clearanced a little spot on my water pump to make it fit. That's about it. If you have any questions you can e-mail me and I'll be glad to try and help.
The engine fired right up after I got the fuel pressure and timing adjusted. I'm going to try and run the factory programming for now, and at this point it seems like it's going to be okay.
SURE HOPE I DON'T SPIN BEARINGS AFTER 5000 MILES!!!
I'm considering the same setup. If you take the ZZ4 and open up the intake, etc., do you have any issues with the stock ECM or passing emissions tests?
