Default Car Problems still..havn't driven car in 4months : (

Hey guys

Here is the latest on the car problems. Please read below

Car sits over night
I go out in the morning ...start up ....booom starts right up fine.
let it run up to temp....turn off...wait a few seconds turn...boom starts right back up
so i'm thinking its cool...but for the hell of it I do the following
I turn off...then on about 5 times....with 10second delay in between
with each time the startup was longer...more like nananananan vroom
then nanananananananannanavroooom
then nanananananananannananananannanvroom

Any Ideas? I have a new fuel pump and filter that I bought...and am waiting to put in.

Any ideas please?

Injectors leaking causing a flooded condidtion? Throw a pressure guage on the schrader valve and see if there is a dramatic pressure loss after you turn the car off.

So all of the injectors are leaking?

Either that or your starter is telling you to chill a minute.

IMO, that's too many start up-shut downs in a small period of time.

:iagree:

I think that the worst case senario is a injector or two leaking down. Put a pressure guage on it and see what the drop is right after shut down.

Sounds like you may just be running your battery juice down if you are starting it, stopping it, starting it, stoping it.

Sounds like your vette is pissed at you for teasing her. She wants to go for a spin.:auto: :jester

If you're firing the engine everytime, then the leaky injectors won't accumulate to a flood condition, because you're burning off all the fuel anyways. Sounds like your starter doesn't like to be abused, it takes a ton of power to turn the engine over. (I think the engine uses ~20% of the power available during combustion just to keep itself turning.)

If my battery voltage drops below 10.3 the car will turn over but no way will it start, put a charger on it for 10 mins and its fine.
I guess just a quirk in the ECM

Thanks for the replys
Maybe the start/shutdown was a little too much too soon

I have a friend letting me borrow his pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure like suggested.

What psi should it be?

Thanks,
-Jon

Between 42 and 48 psi is normal. It should maintain pressure for quite a while after shutdown.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but it might even be your Fuel pressure regulator, mine went out and it took forever to start..

Your problem sounds similar to mine. Seemed to fire alright when cold. After running awhile, a miss was noticed. After an hour on the highway, she wouldn't start until the next day.

One of the injectors was leaking big time. Original delco injectors have now been replaced with Bosh/ford. At $80/each, this is not a cheap fix. But a necessary one.... :auto:

$80 each for Ford injectors! Summit sells them for $229 for a set of 8 for $24#.

 But sorry to join in so late!

My question and I am trying to be helpfull, is..."what happened to cause you to start doing this?"

Did you get stuck some where with a no start situation?

I have to agree with others, more than likely you are simply running the battery down. How often in real life, to you start the car...drive it a few seconds, shut it down then restart, repeat, repeat, repeat?

These cars are heavy users of electricity! The battery, without recharging won't last very long. If your Alternator is putting out 13.9+ when you first start and putting out 13.7 while driving, you are probably OK :D

Like I said, I am curious as to what caused you to start these constant, repetitive tests..

:D
