Default TB Bypass question...

I have a dumb question... When bypassing the TB to keep hot coolant from passing through, what is the best approach? Is is as simple as disconnecting the hoses and pluging them, or is there something I need to do to route the coolant differently? :flag

And also: what about the "Cut Lid" air cleaner modification... How do I do that?

I am not familar with the LT1 throttle body but I am sure you can not just plug them. Try these Tech tip links below.

Those two links will pretty much tell you how to do it. I don't know if there's a difference on a '92 compared to '95  BUT on my tb-coolant bypass you don't have to buy anything at all.

Unhook the hoses at the bottom of the tb on either side. It's obvious which one's they are because they have hose clamps on them and coolant comes out  Block off the two holes (you don't have to), I used to rubber peg covers off of a little kid's scooter ;) Take the hose coming out of the radiator that connects to the driver side of the tb and plug it into the place where the passenger side hose used to come out, simple enough! If you still have problems do an archive search for this topic and on one of those there is a link which even has computer drawn pictures to make it even simpler. Also, my hoses would NOT budge, I just cut them with a razor and pried them off with pliers, you don't need that extra nub you cut off anyway.

As for the air lid, when you take the box off, it's easy if you drill the rivets where the top section of the lid connects, then you're left with a lid that looks like the "factory" one mid america sells. If it makes it easier for you, the part you cut out is the part missing on the K&N add  I would suggest using a drill or dremel to start, but bust out a hacksaw for the rest of it, maybe it's just me, but that seems to go so much quicker

If you already have a K&N filter you can buy a "recharge kit" for around $9.90 from Autozone and it will clean it really well, just don't do it on your driveway that stuff that comes out is NASTY. If you don't have one, just buy a filter and you're good to go, what do they run like $40 from a magazine right? I don't know about at a store.

Good Luck :smash:
