I am planning to replace the Injectors in my 86 I belive they are leaking causing hard starts. What are a good brand to buy and is it something a Mechenical imparied person can do.
:iagree: I sent mine to Rich and he did a awesome job...and you can't beat his prices. I had several dumb questions, gave him a call.... he was very informative and good about taking the time to give me some answers. I highly recommend him.
What's the part number for those SVO injectors? My intake manifold is appart right now and I'm about to bolt the fuel injectors/fuel rail assembly back down, and if the price is right on those SVO injectors, then I may just swap mine out.
What year/model Ford where those injectors off of?
For the L98:
To get to the fuel rail, you will need to take off the plenum. That means you will take off the Tbody.
To make things easier, you will also take off at least one side of the tubes. To get them off you will take off the valve cover. On some models it helps to remove the Alt. To do this you need to remove the serp belt. Do you see the trend here?
The injector is held in place on the fuel rail w/ a clip, (on the injector), that needs rotating to release. i.e. You need to pull the whole assy off the manifold first.

Hard to start when cold or hot? I think your car have 9 injectors like mine. If hard when cold then you can take the 9th injector out easily and have it clean. Or you can take all out and have it clean and balance...
Please, before you spend any money, give us some more details about your problem. There are several other causes of this, fuel pump just to mention one. I hate to see people creating a money pit by guessing and throwing parts at it. This is how someone ends up with a $600 plug wire. Not trying to be a jerk, just lookin out for your best interest :)
The car starts right up in the morning or when its cold, and runs great, the problem seems to be when I stop for gas or shut it off for a bit, it cranks and sounds like it doesnt want to start but it does and it runs great again. I tried holding the pedal down for 30 seconds and it seemed to start up a little faster not as fast as I would like but better. I read thats a sympton of a leaky Injector. I cleand the throttle body and that seemed to help as it was dirty. Any suggestions I hate to spend the bucks if its someting small. I did replace the AIC valve also. :flag
