I hope someone can help,
My climate control unit stopped working for no apparent reason. I pulled it out the other day and all the wires behind it looked okay and everything was plugged in... can this thing be fixed?
Something else I noticed at the same time is that when I turn the lights on I get the tone it gives me when the keys are out of the ignition the entire time I drive. Also the interior lights don't go off immediately when I start it up. Where do I start looking for the problem here, and are the two related?
Re: climate control unit broken...can I fix it? (BadDriver)
did the unit fail to function or loose power? if it has power and just will not function then i would replace it. $125 give or take a bit. as for the other problems it could be your door switch or hatch switch. I do not think the two are related.
good luck
Re: climate control unit broken...can I fix it? (BadDriver)
If you do not have any climate control functions & the lights are staying on with the ignition in run, check the gages fuse. That circuit provides ignition power to the dash assembly & is also the ignition signal to the coutesy light delay timer which then turns off the interior lights. Also check grounds at the drivers side footwell.
Re: climate control unit broken...can I fix it? (BadDriver)
This fixed mine. I had problems with intermittent buttons not working, etc.
I took mine out of the dash, pulled the circuit boards out of the casing, pulled off the 'face (with the buttons)' from the circuit board. and then reinstalled the face pushing it down further into the sockets on the circuit board. I then reinstalled the climate control unit and its worked ever since.
To address your buzzing issue....check your fuses. My car buzzes when a fuse is out.
