Re: Wires and coil do they make a difference? (91superram)
It makes a difference if you can make power at high rpms, like if you have Superram or Miniram. HEI has a hard time making good spark up there, but with the TPI it doesnt matter since the TPI doesnt need it anyway. It chokes out before the HEI starts sputtering.
I'm using MSD 8.5mm Superconductor wires, id probably be using an Accel cap/coil or MSD coil when i get the SR.
If you're running around 6k RPM or so, a higher output coil will just be a patch. The only real fix is to switch to a Capacitive Discharge Ignition system like an MSD setup. Transistorized ignitions just simply cannot recover in time to generate a full spark at 6k RPM. The wires will help some if you can find some low resistance wires, but again, it's just a patch. If you're not pushing up around 6k RPM, save your money and go stock.

Well, it sounds like you're on the border of being able to stock with the stock HEI ignition. You might be fine for now, but if you do heads or cam or something that raises your shiftpoint at all, you'll likely need to switch to a CDI ignition.
