Default Reusing OEM disc brake pads

Three years ago when I installed a set of Hawk HPS pads on my 92, I kept the OEM pads that measure out to have about 85% left on the material. Over that time the OEM rotors have been pretty much been used up from some autocross and occasional track days.

I want to replace the rotors before the upcoming summer caravan to Bowling Green. Can I safely reinstall my OEM pads on the new rotors? I've read here that you should break in new rotors with old pads (and vice-versa) but I would like to leave the original pads in place. OK??

When I did my front brakes one rotor was shot so I installed new pads & rotors.

You should be able to use old pads with new rotors; you shouldn't need to bed them as the pads are already broken in.

You might want to put a little black RTV on the back of each pad as an anti-rattle measure.

There is no reason why you can't do it.

"I've read here that you should break in new rotors with old pads"

Do you figure that they have a big box of old pads at the Vette factory so they can put them on the new cars so the new rotors will break in properly?
