Car started running warmer recently (220° instead of my normal 170°-180°) so I decided to look at it a few minutes ago. Well duh, the primary isn't running at all. :cry Can I get some posts as to what I should check out before I rule it the fan motor. (which I think it may be) It's not jammed or anything as I can turn it by hand. Is it possible to direct wire the fan to test the motor or is it not 12v? Thanks.
When did it come on before? Ot's suppose to come on at around 230*. Does any of them come on when you turn the A/C on?
Sorry, probably should have posted. They are reprogramed. They both come on at 180° I believe. I did kick the A/C so I knew they should both be on either way, and only one is running. Thank god for the electric water pump. Probably keeps it from overheating for now.
One test of the fan motors is to remove the relays (located on the drivers side of the radiator) and jump the pins. I forgot which ones you have to jump, but someone on here will probably know. It's probably the big ones. When my primary fan motor went bad it blew the fuse link, which is under the battery tray. Not a fun job getting in there and figuring out which one it is and soldering a new one in.

Hopefully it didn't take the link out, but with my luck...........guess I need to check that as well.
It's the primary fan motor. Swapped the relays still had the secondary fan and no primary. Jumped the plug so the fan had 12v. I could get the secondary to come on jumping it, but the primary did nothing. As soon as the budget can take the hit, I'll be getting a new one from Jeff Koppl :yesnod:
Sorry to hear the motor is out. The primary is a real pain to replace. I unbolted the radiator and was able to slide it forward just enough to get the fan motor out the top. I think I actually took the fan off the motor while it was still in the car, and that made it possible to get the motor out. It probably would have been easier if I removed the upper radiator hose. If you replace the motor and it still doesn't work, check the fuse link. Good luck!
I've already verified the fuse is still good. I just need to get a motor. I looked at it today, and it didn't appear to be to bad. I'll probably pull the car up on ramps so I have my choice of it going out the top or bottom.
