On this 86 I just got many times when I first start it the "coolant" light comes on then goes off, the radiator and puke tank are full,
the temp gauge gets into the 240's and hit 260 with the red warning bar the other day when it was hot out with the AC on....
The fan is working, so what next do I check...? :skep:
Thanks,
sounds good will check for the trash....
Now where is this "chip" at and where do I get the upgrade one or in my case this car has been tweeked on it might have one....geez, just when I knew c3's I went and got a c4.... :jester
Your car very likely doesnt have one if its temperatures go that high. And dont buy a Hypertech or other off-the-shelf chip because it does nothing for performance, Craig Marcho made me one. I believe forum member -=Jeff=- makes them too, you should contact him.
Your best bet for the time being is a fan switch wired to the main fan, you can get these from Ecklers or MidAmerica.
However, the computer is located behind the pass side dash. Remove the black hush panel, and its directly up at a 90 degree angle to the floor, two bolts hold it in (10 or 11mm if i remember) and youll need some extensions to get up there. Remove the bolts and gently tug the ECM until it drops, theres a small panel on one side with two screws holding it, the chip is in there.
