Default Suspension upgrades??

I have a 96 LT-4 with standard suspension.

I want to be able to improve handling for not only street use but the occasional open track(road course) days, driving schools etc. I still want a reasonable ride on the street.

I see that Vette Brakes & Products makes a complete sport handling package for around $1200.00(springs, bushings, shocks, sway bars, etc)

Any one have any experience with this?
Is this something I can install my self, or should I have a shop do it?
Any shops in my area(Michigan), that would be knowledgeable?

You can install the package yourself, you will just want a lift or an easy way to get under the car, and some of the stuff takes awhile to do.

Personally, id just put on new Bilsteins, Z51 springs, poly bushings, and a 30mm front swaybar. But do know that your ride will suffer with a Z51 rear spring.

Many people backdate to the more aggresive factory setups. usually to the 89-91 year Z51 option. Here is a chart of the different suspensions gm used on the corvette.

You can also use poly bushings and have your shocks revalved by Bilstein. Stiffer springs and shocks will degrade the ride, so you might want to ask about specific combinations, or better, see if any local members have a similar setup and go for a ride.
