Does anyone know an easy way to disable the "One-To-Four" feature on a 1995 Vette? I just bought the car and find this "feature" very annoying. It seems to modify the gate in the transmission forcing you into 4th gear. I bought a manual transmission just so I could shift manually, not be forced to shift a certain way. I don't mind the light on the dash, just the shifter lockout of 2nd.
There's a simple plug-in connector that goes between the wiring harness and the skip-shift solenoid on the transmission. I think the light still comes on, but you just go right on shifting into second. You can get them from most any of the Corvette or performance parts places, like MidAmerica or Summit.
I haven't dealt with this on a Corvette, but I did it on my 2000 six-speed Z28, and I think the procedure is about the same with the ZF. It was really easy and no ill effects.
Here's another one: This is the same unit I used for my Camaro. It has a resistor inside the plug to simulate the electrical load of the soelenoid, to make the computer think it's still hooked up. The Mid America part may just be a seal kit for the open ends of the harness after you disconnect it. That would probably be fine on an OBD I car, and I'm not sure if the '95 Vette is OBD I or II. Re: 1995 Vette "One-To-Four" Disable? (needanother1)
The '93 has a 1-4 relay (gray square plastic canister) mounted on the back, and inside, of the passenger side fender well, along with other relays. If there are relays there on your '95, I will send you a photo showing which relay to disconnect.
There is a plug on the transmission. They sell a kit that just covers each end, all you have to do is disconnect the plug, wrap the ends in electrical tape and use 2nd and 3rd whenever you want.
Done this to a 90 (taped), 96 (plug kit), 2000 (kit), and 2001 (kit). All the kits were was fancy molded electrical tape.. hehe
I got the plug kit. Why? Your ECM will be satisfied with what ever shifting you do. I don't have any lights on the dash with the plug kit. To me, a 6 speed is made to shift. Otherwise, you'd have bought an automatic. :steering:

Re: 1995 Vette "One-To-Four" Disable? (Atok)
All the main places (MAD, Ecklers, Jegs, etc.) sell a verison of the CAGS Skip shift Eliminator. It plugs in where the solenoid is on the trans. This disables the function allowing you to have all your gears when you want them. The One to Four light will still come on in your dash at the time it would normally, but the trans can be shift in 2nd or 3rd. The Eliminator kits cost between $20 and $30, but there are guys who have figured out a way to do it with a couple bucks worth of stuff from Radio Shack. Maybe they will offer some help. I just bought the kit from Jeg's and it works just fine. Easy to reverse if I ever wanted to sell the car too.
