Default LT4 ET question

OK OK OK I KNOW everybody in the world has asked what kind of times a stock LT4 can pull and I KNOW most of the answers. I know for an intune LT4 13.1-12.7is realistic. My question is this.... what kind of times were on what tires? i got to thinking times will probably vary quite a bit on otherwise stock LT4s cause some had 315s on from the factory with the 11 inch rear rims but then you had some cars like mine that only have 9.5 rims in back with 285s. Please help me out with this and post thoughts on this matter. i beleive it was perhaps Patrick96LT4 that ran a 12.7 with his GS when it was stock? but that HAD to be with 315s cause the GS didnt come with smaller. I know that is a fast time period but even if i had an exceptional running LT4 i dont think i could plant that time cause my tires are so much smaller.... so with the understanding that the fast time of 12.7 and 12.8 are run by LT4s with 315s I ask this question, What is the fastest you guys have run a LT4 STOCK but with 315s?(in the quarter mile?)

Patrick ran 12.74 with his previous 96 LT4 bone stock.

Try some drag radials if you want to hook up easier. The difference is amazing.

:iagree:
My understanding too. BTW I have 315's on my 9.5" rims and ran 13.45 @ 105.5 with a 2.1 or 2.2 60 ft time and most of the significantly faster vettes had DR's. I don't get to the strip often(this was my only run at the 1/4), but I don't think the 315 comp ta zr's do much for me in the 1/4 over the 285's. I still like the way they look and am lookin for some 11" rears so the rim/tire combo is properly matched.

Back in 96 during the original magazine testing of LT4's, the Collector Edition testing & Grand Sport testing showed no meaningful differences. The CE test fell right in to the variation in Grand Sport tests (13.3-13.7 @ 107-109). The only performance difference in Grand Sport vs Collector Edition would be tire size.

My thoughts then are driver skills, track condition and tire types are more significant than the tire size between GS & CE. Factory was 3.15 on GS and either 2.75 or 2.85 on CE depending on suspension option.

My stock black LT4 coupe I was hanging out in the 12.90-13.30 range for quite some time. The 60 foot times in the stock GSC's was miserable.

I broke into the 12.8 range for the first time, and as the night got cooler I ran back-to-back 12.76, 12.74, 12.75. Keep in mind I had 100 runs under my belt with this car and I launched as best as possible. The car had 19k miles and was bone stock.

My GS has only seen 5 runs at the dragstrip, with a best of ET of 13.08 @ 109 (good amount of wheelspin). I think this car will see 12's on street tires, but I put on a set of drag radials for consistency in bracket racing.

I'll be running the GS this Saturday, I'll let you know the times.

Here are my stock timeslips...

When my LT4 was bone stock it ran 12.9@109.xxmph with a 60ft of 2.0 or 2.1 on factory non-emt 285 GSC, the other LT4's which were another CE and two Grand Sports there that day were running 12.7-12.8@109-110mph. I have also run a bunch of 13.0's to 13.2's. I also have a few 14.xs when the traction just was not there and some times in between. This was using the factory 285 GSC non-EMT tires which were basically bald at that point due to high miles. I did have a pair of EMT's 285 on there at one point. My 60ft times were really bad with the EMT's.
