the manual says
smal bolts 88NM
large bolts 101NM

And must I tight the bolts in several runs, starting with littel torque and then climb?
thanks
ohh and how much sealent on the bolts, is the threads enough?

Re: head bolt torque (devilfish)
My '88 GM Shop Manual says to:
-apply GM sealent #1052080 or equivalent to the head bolt threads
-install all head bolts finger tight
-torque in several steps to 60-75lb-ft torque in the specified order:
<-Front
.....13......5.......2.....10
......O......O......O......O
17......9......1.......6.....14
.O......O......O......O......O
16.12..8..4..3..7..11..15
.O..O..O..O..O..O..O..O
For my '88 the diagram shows two different lengths of head bolts but has only one torque spec for either bolt.
The torque numbers for #113 heads in my '88 L98 may not apply to your '90 since since your pistons develope more compression but the tightening sequence should be good.

My ARP head bolts with ARP thread sealer are all torqued to 70 ft/lb in 4 steps.
1. Snug
2. 50 ft/lb
3. 60 ft/lb
4. 70 ft/lb

I just logged onto my Alldata.com account (which uses the Helms info) and it states...
1986-88: Long & Medium bolts, 65 Ft. Lbs.; Short bolts, 60 Ft. Lbs.

I put a glob on my finger and spin the bolt threads against it so that the threads fill level and nothing else.

Re: (devilfish)
You should follow the torque level for your year; as I said you have higher CR than earlier L98s.
