Default First Place for Power

I'm autoxing my '89 in A-stock and giving up quite a bit of horsepower to ZR-1 vettes and some M3 BMW's as the '89 L98 only had 245hp but good torque. The car is most likely not performing at peak as it has 68K miles and has been a while since the last tuning.

Where would be the best/cost effective place to bring the motor to it availalbe performance level? I intend to remain in A-stock so I can't do mods :mad just looking to get what I can.

ignition - wires/plugs/cap
ingection cleaning
exhaust - mufflers/catback/both
general tuning - timing/O2 sensor/ etc.

Looking for a little help on where to squeeze a bit more go. Thanks

Just use the standard distributor cap and rotor, no need for a modification there unless you did some major portwork, which i dont guess you can.

I use the MSD 8.5mm wires, and AC Delco Rapidfire plugs.
You can send your injectors to CruzinPerformance and have them serviced, lots of people seem to be doing that lately.
Any catback you pick is dependent solely on sound, performance gains are ~10hp for all of them. But maybe a Random Tech cat would help you out.
If you can do headers, try some Hooker 2149 or some TPiS or LPE headers.

I set the timing at 8*, seems to like the advance.

Unless your gas mileage is suffering, your O2 sensor is probably still good.
