Default question about stock cats

hi, this may be a dumb question, but i just had performance mufflers put on and while i had them put on i had the shop check for the cause of this rattling i heard from the exhaust. he told me that it was coming from inside the right cat on my '92 Lt1. i put less than 5000 a year (for emissions) on and i was thinking of eliminating them all together. is this a good idea, and how would i go about doing that?......thanks, im still a newbie to the vette world, im only 21 and this is my first, so i dont want to do anything w/o feedback from u guys. thanks

you wont pass emissions without the cats, there is one on each side

best bet is to buy some Random Tech cats, they are high-flow

right, i know i wont pass emmissions w/o them, but since i put less than 5000 miles a year on the car, i dont have to test for emmissions, thats why i was thinking of just eliminating them altogether

Then ditch them, you can either gut them and put a pipe inside or weld a pipe in place.

Only possible problem might be with the O2 sensor reading, so you may want to look into a heated O2 sensor.
