Well, I've heard that by-passing it stops the tach from jumping so much (is this true?).

Cutting it out of the circuit will not stop the tach from jumping around, that's what it is there for. It does need to be bolted up to the block/head for it to work however! The idiot that had my 'vette before we left it hanging and the tach was always going bonkers. Once I had it bolted back up to the cylinder head, it worked like a charm.

Ummm.... When I installed my MSD 6AL and Blaster coil, it was necessary to bypass the tach filter (from MSD tech support). Splicing the wires was the only way to get the tach from jumping around...

That is a different scenario. He didn't mention installing a new ignition box.

Well for one I don't feel like spending $50 for a different one. This one has brass terminals believe it or not. I have no loss of spark at 6300 RPM which is all I need.

:iagree: Conrad makes a better cap and rotor than the AC Delco replacement for our distributor.

That teaches me - I've been schooled! Just shows you what you really don't know about L98 caps! :D
