I was reading through the teck tips for a c-4 and there is a tip by Blue Max about removeing the vacum line from the fuel pressure regualator and getting an increase in fuel mileage and power. Has any one else tried this? riding with top down :chevy :auto:
Hmmm. The FPR has a vacuum feed to sense when you have the pedal to the metal, and increases fuel pressure about 6-8 pounds to richen up the mixture. Conversely, during closed or part throttle, the fuel pressure is lower, resulting in better economy.
If you defeat the vacuum, your fuel pressure will increase. This will probably consume more fuel than the ECU can compensate for (lean out). Result: DEcreased fuel economy.
Regarding increased performance, most (stock) cars are already running richer than performance reasons would dictate. Adding more fuel would be counter-productive, IMO.
All bets are off if the car is already running lean. In that case, disconnecting the vacuum line to the FPR *might* help at certain throttle/load settings.
