My ECM only communicates with the scanner about half of the time... Im suspecting a bad ground, might this be causing myproblems? Where are the grounds that would be in question here?
Re: ECM troubles.. Question within (CarAteMyMoney)
Depends on the model, but a common problemarea often overlooked is by the Tstat housing on earlier cars. The others being on the bellhousing bolt on the DS of the engine.
I've heard of others having problems linking, and then losing connection with a few different types of scanners. When it doesn't link, does your car run normally???
What kind of equipment are you using?? Software, laptop etc....might you have some power saver equipment the interferes? What cable are you using? the AKM or selfmade?
I was using an OTC Monitor 2000 but I thnk I messed up the baud rate so I'm using a 'monitor 86' which is basically a GM-only monitor 2000 for '86 cars, like mine
Where exactly are the grounds??? Especially near the t-stat housing I have no idea what i'm looking for!
Anything else it could be?? There's also a steady miss in the engine and it does not seem to favor either side
