My over flow tank for the coolant is slam full, and my low coolant light keeps coming on. Once I top it off it's fine. But when driving it for the day the next morning I have to top it off again. Could it be my raidator cap?
could be many different things. easy ones: radiator cap. hose from filler neck to overflow is loose. The radiator has to be able to generate vacuum when cooling to pull water out of the overflow tank if the hose is loose or cracked it can't.
Do you have any leaks? Low coolant sensor is at the bottom of your surge tank at the firewall. I would replace the cap first. I did that on mine...from GM. Did you bleed all the air out?
BTW are you adding a mix everytime you top off?
Sounds like you have air in the system... when you say that you top it off, do you mean that you fill your overflow tank? If that is right, you have to pack the radiator. Start with a cold engine, remove the radiator cap, let the engine idle. when the termostat opens you will see the waterlevel drop. Fill it up (50/50, water/antifreeze). Then rev the engine to about 2000 rpm, when the level drops, fill it up and replace the cap. You may have to do this more than once. Hope this helps.
So if there's air in the system will it not suck it back from the overflow tank? When topping it off I'm doing it from the raditator not the overflow.....
The hoses are fine I checked those........so how do you get the air out.
You have 2 bleeder screws unless you have a TB bypass. one is at the top of the thermostat housing and the othe at the bottom of the TB left side. You have a 94 LT1 right? Here it is again. http://h-body.org/people/projects/bu...t1%20info.html
