Traco built some wild engines in the 80's.Are you by any chance looking at a GS80 C4 model? The GS80(grandsport) was built by Guldstrand engineering and they had Traco build them their engines.I read an article about them in an old 80's Vette magazine.Maybe go to google and do a search for these guys.I heard they were no longer in business but did produce some nice engines back then.
Good Luck.
If this partially used up old mind remembers right, you might do an internet search under Travers and Coon. Not positive of the spelling, but I think that is correct. Famous engine builders for the Trans Am Camaros and I believe Can-Am cars. Definitely state of the art in their day. Yesteryears's Katech. Not sure if they are still in business.
traco was in LV but sold their stuff to DEI. bud coons and frank travers have been long gone from TRACO. they were to GM back then what KATECH is today. their engines were always painted light grey. :chevy
Traco was right next door to Guldstrand in the 80's. In Culver City, California.
They built his motors. Made awesome headers too.
Traco was also the one who built the Grand Sport motors and many others back in the day if I remember right.
If its the GS80 your looking at its a sweet motor. The intake was modified, way before the aftermarket combined runners were made. I forget what the power rating was on the car. But I am sure the guys at Guldstrand can tell you, they have the article hanging on the wall.
Traco has since closed his doors and now I beleive builds engines for someone else, I think NASCAR engines or something like that. Somewhere way east of California.
