Default G44 rear axle question

I have an '88 'Vette coupe with the 4+3 manual trans. The RPO code in my glove box says G44, which is supposed to be a 3.07 rear axle ratio. I understood that all 4+3 coupes had the Dana 44 - which I also assumed were all posi's. Why is there no code G92 in my glovebox? What's the difference? Is my assumption correct that all '88 4+3 coupes had the Dana 44 posi with a 3.07? Any clarifications on this issue would help immensely.

All standard C4s from 85-88 had a Dana 44 posi rear with 3.07 rear end. The ratios changed from 89-96 but were still 44 posi units.

G92 is the worthless code, we still cant figure out exactly why GM even used it. You can get the 3.07 without the G92, and on some cars (automatics or verts) the G92 can be 3.07 or 2.73. It seems to vary depending on year.

So you have a D44 with 3.07, thats all you need to worry about.

G92 is only on the automatic cars.

You only had one choice with the manual cars.

As stated, G92 is a worthless designation. It means "Performance Ratio". It doesn't designate any particular ratio, only that the subject vehicle had the performance ratio option. As the "standard" ratio varies from year to year, and car to car, so does the "G92" ratio. G44 says, "3.07:1". Good luck, and...
