As mentioned you will need some good manuals for that swap; I too believe the swap to a late L98 would be much easier. And don't let that 60hp difference be an issue; with a few bolt-ons I'm now running low 13s at close to 300chp.
So get a GM shop manual set for your '84 and one for the doner engine year. These documents will contain wiring details that will be needed.
You might contact Contemporary Corvette (link on my site) for any used Vette parts needed, including the wiring harnesses.
