Hi, I'm new here, and my username is drepperkid, and my real name is Chris. Well I guess I'll tell you all a little about myself, I'm 15 years old (I'll be 16 in January), I live in a small town in NC called Kinston, some parts of it aren't to pretty but it ain't so bad, I'm a red blooded american (God Bless The US, To Hell with the rest!!!) ha ha ha, not meant to offend anyone (unless you're a terrorist or dictator), I wear my hair in a mullet, (and don't start thinking trailerpark, I live in house in a good neighborhood) I nearly always wear polo shirts and 505 LEVIS ( just to let you know my style), my favorite band is DEF LEPPARD (although after their 1992 album Adrenalize and the lead guitarist (Steve Clark) died in 1991 they have done nothing but make albums that suck, anyway, lwt me tell you about my car, Its a 1984 'vette with alot of miles but runs like a dream except for the fact that misses when it idles (all the plugs and plug wires are fine, just replaced them, along with the coolant temp. sensor and the throttle position sensor and I tuned it up about 3,000 miles ago, and it ran good back then, maybe I just need to change the oil, but let me know what you think about it). I plan on removing the L-83 in June and replacing it with an LT-1 that I've found, I need some help with that, and I was hoping you could help me with it by telling me what I'm going to need to do it, along with how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Might I recommend you pick up a book by Charles Probst. It's called Corvette Fuel Injection. It's a must read for the project you are going to undertake. It covers from 1982 to the present, discusses every aspect of fuel injection including the difference between the years.

Welcome aboard :hurray: Nice to have some "new blood" to infect with our disease, "Vetteloveitis" The first thing you need is a service manual for your Vette. If you really want to swap with a LT-1, make sure you read about the Opti-spark before you do it, and make sure you have everything, including the ECM. The L98 might be a better choice.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new Vette.

As mentioned you will need some good manuals for that swap; I too believe the swap to a late L98 would be much easier. And don't let that 60hp difference be an issue; with a few bolt-ons I'm now running low 13s at close to 300chp.

So get a GM shop manual set for your '84 and one for the doner engine year. These documents will contain wiring details that will be needed.

You might contact Contemporary Corvette (link on my site) for any used Vette parts needed, including the wiring harnesses.

Thanks for all the info. and welcomes. Yeah. I told you all alot about me didn't I, now that I think about it, telling you all the pants I wear is going kinda far out isn't it. Anyway, this is actually the second forum I've joined, I usually make my home at crossfire.homeip.net, its a pretty cool site, and all the guys there are really helpful as well. One more thing before I close, I figure maybe I should tell you the reason I wanna change to an LT-1, because my goal is to have the fastest car around, I want to be able to spank the 2003 mustang cobra, and I want to wipe the floor with that new viper, as well as blow the doors off those NOS powered bumble bees (sport compacts).
