Please help with brake problem
The brakes on my 87 vette are acting weird - it seems like I have no "assist" when braking. If I force the pedal down, it will stop the car - it is as if the engine is off. I checked the vacuum line from the intake area to the booster and it looks good. It is a metal hose to a rubber hose to the brake booster. Is there another hose?
The problem did not occur when I was driving it. The car worked fine and a few days later, I went to drive it again and no boost. I haven't taken the hose off yet to verify if I have vacuum yet...
Any other things I should look at?
Thanks for any ideas!

Re: Please help with brake problem (pzoom)
At first :bb , it sounds like your booster (vacuum tank) has gone bad. Is the vacuum hose tight, at both ends?
Do you hear a hissing sound when you step on the brakes (engine running)
If you have a vacuum leak or a booster leak, you will have the condition you describe

I'm no expert but it could be you're Power Booster diaphram has developed a crack/tear. Do you hear a "hissing" sound when you apply the brakes? If so, that's it, replace the booster.
You should get a bunch of replies on this . . . . . .
