These are a collection of articles that I have been pushing for about 6 months. ANYONE even considering tuning should read them. You will be enlightened I'm sure.
I have been pounding this over there for 6 months and nearly was booted several times from the boards for disagreeing with the mods and tuning gods :D They are finally starting to see it my way  http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...hreadid=174742
The one mod and I will try to consolidate the information into one post. I think it would be a very valid sticky here and would help people sift through the misconceptions etc surrounding the MAF system.

:iagree:
Yea, go ski! BTW-I just couldn't help the comment about a write up on swapping to maf......
Boy you have been busy posting this weekend... I agree with you about the MAF, too many people are too quick to ditch it. I am planning to use a MAF with a mild supercharger I will see how that goes, everyone over their pretty much say use a 749 or a FMU & 165. I think it can be done with just a 165. The 3rd ge3n is still a greta resource for PROM burning, I read it almost daily trying to absorb as much info as possible.
Yeah there is no doubt there is a wealth of information there, and some VERY smart people to boot. But I think their their own worst enemies. They listen too much to one or two people because they are afraid to get beat down. I threw off the gloves and said bring on the beatings.
There are some of them that are pretty cool though. I think the majority of people over there and here want more of a MAF tuning resource to pull from.
I think you will be fine with the MAF and a SC. There is only one thing you have to remember, as long as you can get the AFR you want, then you are fine. Its like jetting a carb, only you have more control.

Hmmm, that one I'm not sure... I ended up going with a cartech fmu. Check out http://www.cartech.net
Either way just make sure you use a wideband....
I was tired of the bickering and was about to say a few things that would have probably got me booted as well. Looks like we have a good thing going now though. Good job on finally getting through some thick skulls over there. Would be curious to know what the mod emailed you, I assume threatening to kick you off because you dared to question the tuning gods  Not a single bit of bickering and all helpfull comments, gota love it.
I agree with you too. I haven't seen a blown LT1/LS1 system that couldn't benefit from a MAF. Speed density can work, but why not use all your tools available? Way to keep your dukes up!!
Re: Everyone needs to read these.... (Mr Cowl Hood)
i'm surprised to see the debate about SD versus MAF. way back when i had a rustang (i know, i know), everybody that did anything to their car wanted to switch to MAF from SD. the SD was said to be much less resilient to engine mods.
i believe Phil Tobin/Hoover ran mid 10's with MAF...

The worse I can do is try, I have a much midler set up than you do with basicablly a stock 350 and an exhaust. I plan on using a WB O2 (I am just waiting for my WB circuit board)
Thanks Ski. I was never a big fan of SD. Some love it. It's just not my thing. Yes is has it's benifits, but they they don't out-weight the drawbacks, for me anyway.
I have seen some of the fast MAF approaches, but still think there is a simpler approach.

I got fed up and told them to delete my user account (Need4speed).
It seems to be the same people that ruined the GMECM mailing list.
