84 rear spring on an 88??

84 rear spring on an 88??
we some how aquired a brand new rear mono spring for a c4. Its labeled 84 rear. Will it fit my 88? what kind of effects or problems could i expect? Thanks alot

I dont think it will fit, they changed the suspension geometry in 88.

I know it will definately fit an '87 cause thats what I'm running. What exactly did they change in '88? Just wondering because I've got an '84 rear spring and a mid 90s Dana 44 all bolted back there with no issues. All seemed to fit nicely.

'84's had very stiff rear springs. I don't think that is what you want on your '88. If you have ever seen one of the spring rate charts posted here on the forum you will see that GM decreased spring rates over the years, with the base '96 being the lowest spring rate. The '84 z51 was the highest, and the '84 base spring was stiffer than the '85 z51. I have an '85 z51 in front and a base spring in the rear of my'86. I tried the '85 z51 rear spring and it was way too stiff. The z51 front/base rear rides and handles great on my car. So to answer your question, I don't see any reason why you would want to make the rear stiffer.
Also, I think you can swap rear springs for all C4's but front springs are different for 84-87 and 88-96.
