Have noticed that my 85 has been sitting lower in the front lately, so this morning I put it up on ramps, and found that the front spring is de-laminating right in the middle. Pretty ugly, and the perfect way to ruin an otherwise perfect Sunday. My question isn't on how to change it (I aint even gonna try to tackle that job...let a shop do it) but where do I find a reasonably priced OEM style spring. Ecklers wants $300 for a freakin composite spring, and I know I can find a plain ol' OEM spec'd one priced a lot more realisticly...or can I? Any help/input/info would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:
I buy a lot of parts off Ebay. Look for Redneck43 or Vette2vette. They sell good used parts and won't rip you off with shipping overcharges. There's tons of C4 parts there.
But there are lots of overpriced stuff too. Try Brasington GM first. http://www.gmotors.com. They sell any part brand new at 15% over their dealership cost. That amounts to about a 40% savings from walking into a chevy dealer. Fast service too. Just email them on what you need and they get back to you with a price.
I have a spare rear spring. Sorry no front.
Yeah, I got my new Mid-Am catalog yesterday and I'm appalled at the prices they charge. I don't know how they sleep nights.
