Hello, Does anyone out there have a trick for reseting the infl rest light on a 1990 ? After removing the corrosion under the left derm I used the procedure found under tech tips to reset the light with no luck.
Thanks in advance.
The procedure is VERY touchy, but it works if you're persistant. Ground the SIR terminal, and AS SOON AS the INFL REST light starts flashing, unground and count one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three; ground the terminal and count down again to three; unground for a count of three again, then ground the terminal and check for codes. You'll know you got it when all you get on the INFL REST light is 12,12,12. You may need to do the procedure a few times, but don't go too fast. I use two wires with an alligator clip to be sure I can control the ground/unground better.
BTW, you actually cleaned the ground on the left discriminating sensor -- the DERM is the "brain" for the SIR and is located below the radio.
Thank you,
Yes i did clean the sensor not the derm. I have tried that same procedure about twenty times with no luck . Where are you getting your ground from?
