I need help finding a O-ring. It is for the cold start injector. I need a O-ring for the injector, for the tube comming off the injector to the fitting that screws into the fuel rail, and mostly the O-ring between the fitting and the fuel rail.
I have called a few places and they say they no longer service the cold start injector. I need a special thin O-ring that will fit into the fuel rail so this fitting will not leak. It is on the back of the fuel rail drivers side.
Any suggestions? How to get the old O-ring back in? It is all swelled up now. Block off the fuel rail? Where to look for a O-ring?
I know it sounds like a little thing but without this my rail spews gas all over the place including onto my windsheild. I dunno what to do. :banghead:
Did you check ZIP products? I noticed they have some FI components for L98s that not all aftermarket companies have. I think I saw the parts you need (cold start O ring) listed on their website catalogue. Good Luck! :seeya
I found a PH 17111954 it is for a V-6 cold start injector but looked identical to what I have. Wish me luck.
[EDIT] Checked out the site. MY question is does a injector O ring kit come with everything including the cold start one, and the one for the fitting to the fuel rail? If so that will work perfect.
If you have the original o-ring - look up a commercial seal company in your area. They can measure your current O-ring and give you a replacement. be sure it is made of the (Lokar material) I think this is what it is called. It is very resistant to chemicals. I just went through this when I replaced the O-rings on the cross bars connecting the 2 sides of the fuel rail.
I went to chevy :mad and the only thing available was the injector o-ring sets and not what I needed. went to a friend of mine who owns a company that manufactures and sells comercial seals and he sent me to a distributor and I bought the 4 o-rings for less than $5. In fact I bought a dozen or so to keep for future rebuilds.

I know this is expensive but you can order the o-rings in a kit from GM. They charged me $18.00. I figured the savings in my time was worth the $18.00 rather than the hassle of research.
I actually found a O-ring for the cold start injector and the fitting that screws into the fuel rail at the hardware store on the way home :) For the fuel line that screws into the fitting I had to use 2 3/8" rubber washers. I just crammed them in there and it seems to have done the trick.
The washers were $0.08 a peice. So if it fails no biggie I will either get more or go and get a proper O-ring. I have taken that cold start injector off so many times now I think I have it down to about 5 min a pop.
BookSmart, good job on the solution. I was going to mention the zip people don't know much about their products when you talk to them, at least in my dealings with them and the parts I've needed. I'm wondering what hardware store you found the parts at - since we live in the same area, it might be a valuable resource! :seeya
