Default Removing cat converter

I heard this was illegal but if I removed it would it provide more horsepower for my 91.

Yeah 3 whole horsepower

It's illegal and the fine is huge if you get caught.

Not that I ever would remove mine :D
But If Iwas to come across a cat converter delete pipe that bolted right in and could re-install the main cat for inspections. It sure would (speculation mind you) make a difference in performance, and sounds so much sweeter through the 40 series flowmasters on the back.

I've "heard" that a better way to do it is to have a piece of 3" pipe welded inside the converter housing. Bolt it back up and no one will ever know unless they do a sniff test.

They do a sniff test if you are pulled over for an infraction here in Fairfax if they have reason to believe you are running catless. Not worth the possible fines to me. I ran my 91 at different times with a clogged cat, hollowed cat and a Randon Technology cat. Big difference when i hollwoed the clogged cat. Almost no difference after installing a Random cat.
Guees you need to ask yourself, is it worth the extra 3HP? :leaving:
