My AC was working fine last fall. Now that it is needed again, it does not work. One thing I noticed is that the temp lever for going from cold to hot is not smooth in motion. It feels rough when switching back and forth and it blows warm/hot air even with it in the vent position and the temp lever in the coldest position. Anyone have any suggestions
On a manual unit I believe there is a door that swings to allow cold or hot air to pass. Check that this door is indeed connected and moving when the control is moved.
how long does the compressor run before it cycles??( a few seconds or minutes)
the heater control valve is on the firewall , pass side. made into the 2 steel pipes that go thru the firewall between the blower motor and the evaporator box. mine is vacuum operated. if the vacuum line is broken or off, it may cause this problem.
well then , theres your problem. your just low on refrigerant. its not uncommon to lose it over the winter, even on newer cars.
if i were you , id change every o-ring on the a/c system before i have it recharged.
O.K., thanks but I am still concerned about the fact that the temp control lever is rough in it's travel when going from cold to hot and back and with the system in the vent position it blows hot air.
