Default just starting- need help

I have just gotten my WinALDL software working and Im getting used to reading the data. So I downloaded GMECM edit so I could take a look at what I will modify and how to actually do it. Since I dont have a programer (yet) to upload my current chip I thought I would just download one. I found a few bin files at DYI-EFI and some at another link found here. I went for ones that were labeled 6870 (for my ECM) and the other site said 85 vette or Y body or something like that. My question is how do I see the info? I open the GMECMedit program and select "file" then "open bin.." and select one of the 4 or 5 Ive downloaded and then main screen stays blank. doesnt matter which one I try. please help me understand this

In response to this and your other post--I have yet to see an ECU file for the '870. That's one reason I went with TunerCat. I looked and looked...but it just didn't exist.
