ok guys, i replaced my brake pads yesterday and im glad i did cause they were the origianal factory brakes with almost 130k on them. i can feel a better stopping distance and everything so i didnt waste my money but the main reason i replaced them was because that make a bad raquet when i apply them
sounds like its coming mostly from the right front
its so irritating i almost dont want to drive with the windows sown... it doesnt make any noise unless i apply it and then once i and only going about 5-15 it stops even if the brakes are still applied! can somepbody please tell me what is wrong with my brakes? im so sonfused. i dont know if this helps but they are 13 inch rotors that came with the 1996 LT4
thanks a lot guys you all are lifesavers
There is no way you got 130 thousand miles out of one set of brake pads.
Have you ever checked the wheel bearrings?
Raise that corner of the viehcle & see if you can wiggle the tire right left or up down.It should be tight.
The bracket that holds the pads, and the pin which keeps the caliper in place could also be worn. So if you can wiggle the caliper, if you can they its possible that those parts are worn. Also did you use OEM pads? sometimes the aftermarket pads will not seat just right.
I had the same problem with a 92, but they rattled when I did not apply the brakes.
Most pads come with a "squeeler" that warns when the pads are about used up. It is a metal clip that attaches to the pad itself at the ends. I'm wondering if you got that clip in wrong and its contacting the rotor????
