Free L98 oil cooler gasket
Here is a way to save some money. Don't go out and buy the GM rubber seal that goes between the oil cooler and the block mounted filter for $12.00. Use the rubber seal ring from one of your used oil filters. It's virtually the same.

Re: Free L98 oil cooler gasket (NHVett)
TTT, great idea. I thought of this yesterday after the parts store said "We don't have it in stock, but we can order it and get it to you by next September."

Oil Cooler Gasket
My gasket replacement was a bit touchy. If I tighten the cooler too much, the gasket deforms and leaks like heck. I now torque it to just where the cooler will rotate slightly with effort. Actually, it is really the same type of seal arrangement as the oil filter and requires just about the same amount of tightening. Nothing like seeing all your oil pouring out all over the ground from mis-tightening the adapter. :cuss
