Default ATF change 700R4

My trans fluid is brown and smelly. So I have dropped the pan (makes great hair gel), and drained the trans. How do I get the stuff out of the converter, or does it stay there or what? This car is new to me, it could be the opriginal fluid for all I know (86000 miles). Any recomendations on fluid?

Thanks for that, but what about getting the old fluid out?

Should I put some cheap stuff in , let it slosh around for awhile then go to Mobil 1 - or.......?

tought to get it all out without dropping the torque converter, but I get a fair amount out by unhooking the cooler lines at the radiator, and idling the car a couple mins.

 Search the archives, there are probably more posts on this subject than any other.

In short, disconnect the hose at the RAD, put the discharge (flow to RAD )hose in a bucket to catch the old fluid.

Add and keep adding lots of new fluid as a friend starts and stops the engine to be sure the tranny doesn't run out. Will take 13+ quarts

:D :steering:
