When I hit the gas it stumbles and backfires. The idle is slow and power is weak. Does this sound like too little or too much advance? I tried to set 6 deg BTC but with the new balancer, it should be easier but so far it's not. The new one is engraved and the old timing marker kind of blocks that section.
I figured it out. The problem was that I was an idiot. I was bringing the 6 btc mark on the balancer to the 0 TDC mark on the tab. I should have been bringing the 0 TDC on the balancer to the 6 BTC indent on the tab. I was putting it way out of wack. runs much better now with a crisp idle. I'll have a road test tomorrow on the way to work!
Hey where did you get your balancer? How's it working out?
PB2221-SS POWER BOND BALANCERS - SMALL BLOCK CHEVY 7'' STEEL HARMONIC from http://www.carshopinc.com
It looks good and should outlast me. I got the certified one to keep the balancer from spinning again. I can tell the difference in vibration or lack of.... Before, I couldn't keep anything on the engine while it was running. Now, it was smooth enough to avoid shaking tools all over the place.
Yes, I know I shouldn't keep stuff on top of the shiny TPI.....
