Default Garsh Darnit!

Well I had a local speed shop all ready to put my roll bar into my car until they called the bar manufacturer. The manufacturer told them his is the worst car you could ever image doing a bar to. Figures. So the guy said instead of 600 beans it would be a min of 600 and then they would charge me labor per hour above and beyond what they had already figured until it was done, since they didn't know what they were getting into. I told him no way, something I learned a long time ago. Get a firm quote with all teh guidlines laid out and stick to it. It works both ways...if they figure 6 hrs and they tell you it only took 3 hours, then you pay them 6. If they tell you 6 hours and then say they are gonna have to charge you 4 more....tell them to go blow smoke.

He wouldn't commit to a price, so I said I would go elsewhere. Elsewhere I guess is neverlift for 1350 beans

I called them right away and they can't do it till Mid July :cry

So it looks like my racing season is gonna be a short on. banned from 1 track 3 to go

What scares me more than anything is if something happened at that speed. Corky just saw a car last weekend hit the wall at 110 mph....not pretty!

PS on a brighter side I drove the car to work today :D

Also got some turndowns made for the headers, new shifter cable installed, and got a nice wash job laid on here for cruising purposes

Yup, there ya go, proof positive that SPEED KILLS -- your wallett!!!

I guess you could have worse problems. Well, in the meantime, soo how quickly you can get banned at the other tracks. Make a name for yourself :D

Bummer Ski.... Kinda sounds like "Corvette tax" strikes again. I'd think a Vette would be easier, with the lift- off top, and the big, opening hatch. Good luck.

Default Garsh Darnit!

Have you been booted at E town yet? ;)

Nah, I think Mackey is taking a LOT of heat for cars that are sub-12 seconds and the lack of safety equipment.

It's better to be safe than sorry. Wait it out. When you least expect it, something COULD go wrong. Did you think John Lingenfelter expected to be where He is? Imagine if He didn't have all the proper safety equipment.

Ski,

I've seen what you can do with engines, ecms, etc.
I have GREAT confidence you can do this yourself.
At the very least you can do a better job of it than those yahoos that have never done it before.

Jim's got a pretty good idea there;

If you can't get the other guys until July - you have the time. If you built the car yourself, you have the skills too. $1400 will buy you a lot of tools for the job too. (that you get to keep :hurray: )

I'm sure I saw someone's website around here that walked you through the install of his roll bar on his C4.

Damn I can only wish I'll need a rollbar in my Vette because it's too fast down the track.
As for now I'll just stick with my Cross Bar w/ loops and fool all the little kids in my neighborhood. :steering:

Ski,
There is awebsite that shows step by step how to install a C4 rollbar. It has pics on where and how to do it. If you weld, then you can install a rollbar.

I could probably find the site or go to google and do a search. You might be suprised :yesnod:

Ski, that sounds like an awful lot of trouble for you. I'll tell you what just send me the motor and I'll send you mine, problem solved, you won't need a roll bar then. On second thought, to eliminate labor, just send me your car I'll send you mine. :D

If you can send me the website or list it here I will be very interested in seeing it!.....might sway this guys opinion.
