I didnt even know you could convert over to that, would you need an ignition booster like a MSD to help those things out?
How much is that conversion anyway?

Re: Guess what I got today (vader86)
Vader, it cost $399 for what you see, I have to supply the smart coils, plug wires and brackets to hold the coils.
John, I'll let you know when I get started on it. Probably not till I get back from Bowling Green.
The wiring harness consists of 8 coil wires and grounds.
The plug for the black box.
Wires that connect to where the original coil was.
And two others I haven't identified yet.

I suspected this is what you had in mind...
You can't keep a secret from this batch of brainiacs.
So... that little box is triggered by the opti's low voltage? Cool.

Re: Guess what I got today (bogus)
Andy, it's a pretty neat device, that's for sure.
I hope to have it up and running before my next Corvette Challenge, I don't want to race the six speed anymore.

Re: Guess what I got today (pwrful c4)
Is this for all years LT1?? It doesn't have a separate crank trigger? I'm rather curious.

Re: Guess what I got today (Ski2Tee)
I am VERY interested in this exact thing. My opti is likely the cause of all my problems (surging, hesitating, and backfiring when it's cold). My dad asked me if I knew of any conversions to coil packs, and I told him the best I'd seen was the vacuum mod for the optispark.
This, however, looks like it would be the best solution to my problems. PLEASE do keep us posted on this one, as I'm sure there are plenty of us here that are interesed in seeing how this one turns out.
If it works out for you, and I really hope it does, we'll need to celebrate and throw a party!!!! :hurray:
Go go LT1 Coil conversion!!!!

Re: Guess what I got today (FoolCrzy)
I can't get to the Bailey site as it is blocked by work, but how does this get a reference for where the crank position is? Does it still use an opti at all?

Interesting, but the installs look like crap covering the intake and what not.
The LT5 coils are a pita to get at and change, but the looks are a different story.
