Default Cylinder Head Question?

Hello Vettegurus!
I have done some small changes in my engine but the next winter I will try to swap cam etc. My ques is if there isnt anyting I could do with my heads (128 alu) qoz here in sweden you have to has an large pile of money if you are going to by some new aftermarket heads. I will try to reach low 13 to high 12`s on the strip. I have read a lot of these heads that they are totally crap but with some porting and a good valve job there must be some performance gains or?

I'm sure pocket porting & working your heads will be worth some nice HP gains, especially when combined with a cam, exhaust and intake work.

Check out the page on results of mods to a L98 on my site to see some of the gains to expect. For sure you can get into high 12s.

I don't know what you mean by a pile of money. Ported 113's are available from Scoggin-Dickey for about $1300. If you go this route, make sure they use the latest castings from GM Performance Parts as they include heavy duty valve springs. Web is http://www.sdpc2000.com if you want to order a free catalogue (I don't believe these heads are shown online).

I ported my 128's and gained ~40 cfm on the intake side at 0.500" lift (with gains ALL across the lift range) and even greater gains on the exhaust side. I haven't dyno'd the motor with the head work yet, but I did pick up 0.7 sec and 8 mph in the 1/4 after my head work.

Those heads arent the best, but if you port them out then theyll flow pretty good.

If you went aftermarket, go with AFR 190s.
