Are these worth the money at $20? The're supposed to hamper thieves from penetrating the battery through the side panel so your alarm system won't work.

If a thief wants the car they are going to get it. I did go ahead and get the shield to protect car stereo thieves from puncturing the battery. I figured for $20, it couldn't hurt.

Lantana is a small town between West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Down here in South Florida, you have to watch out for all of the kids that steal car stereos. I lost one a couple of years ago from a Camaro I used to own. That was when I was in college and was competing in car stereo competitions. I put the shield on my Vette before I replaced the factory cassette deck with a nice Alpine. I try whatever I can to discourage people messing around with my car. Of course, I won't go as far as a friend did with his RX7. He used to have Mace spray hooked up to his alarm system. He liked it until he had a short and the alarm triggered while he was driving it. I tell you, it brought tears to his eyes. :D

That's all I really want to do is make it harder for the kid trying to steal something. You'll never stop a pro. Although my Dobermans take good care of mine at home. :yesnod:

Any hood with a portable drill and a carbide bit will negate your $20 investment. Save your money, and don't park your vette on the street.
