Super News!
In the nutshell how it will work is though the use of the laptop/romulator you can make changes on the fly that will be used through out the tuning process, whether its a day/week/year, Once you have all the parameter where they need to be, you simply extract the bin file and burn it to a chip for the final version
That is what I hate about tuning so much. You drive to an area where you can test the car. Run it, and see what needs changed. Go back home to make the changes, wife asks you to do a million things, kids start fighting, etc etc. Now you can take an afternoon. Dial it in however you like along the road. Take it home park it, enjoy the tune to that point and then pick up on the tune if necessary the following day/week/year if you like.
I am definately gonna have my eye on a setup like this. ;)
It will be all to awesome for the track! Especially on a dyno or a test and tune day.

Ski, it is not listed on the website.. is it in Beta right now?
BTW - Thanks Jessie (ski_) for the chip, My mechanic said he got it.
Can't wate to get this thing fired up !
I got an email back from TC.....He confirmed what I said earlier. The romulator stores the program as long as you like.
Sounds like the format will be the same as tunercat, youjust make the changes hit enter, and the car runs the new program.
I don't think it needs to be said, but this is not something that should be done while driving. You should log, pull off the road, read the results, make changes then drive again.
I am gonna order my xtronics romulator as soon as they answer my email. Man this will take a huge hassle out of tuning.

Why don't you suggest it to TC..

If you have an older ROMulator, the firmware will require updating.
All this *IS* good news. For me, it means I won't have to carry two laptops anymore.:) Now if only TTS DataMaster would update their software to support USB ports... A DB9 serial port is becoming rather extinct on new notebooks. :cry
With the ROMulator, changes are made from the driver's seat. No more burning hundreds of chips, each time shutting down the car, getting out, opening the hood, opening the ECU, etc., etc.
 - Bill
