I have a loud clicking noise around the top of my engine and i dont know if its my injectors or possibly a lifter gone bad, when i drive the car it doesnt really lag or stumble but the noise increases as i accelerate, any help would be appreciated.
If it sounds more like a lifter noise you could have a clogged pushrod. I'd take the valve covers off and check. You can use a automotive stethoscope to pinpoint the noise too. I don't know if local parts stores have them....I got mine from Snapon. Check for something hitting the pulleys also. Sound travels all over.

Re: help please!!! lifters? (premiervette)
If you need to locate the sound without having to many tools, You may want to try using a 3/8 extension. Place the one end on the valve cover and the other end to your ear. You will be amazed to what you will hear. For the noise. I would think either as mentioned about a clogged push rod, A loose rocker arm, A noisy injector or a noisy lifter. There are a few things that could be wrong. Good luck.

The clicking noise you hear when you first start the car up could be an injector or a valve not getting enough oil on start up. It would be the same as running low on oil and hearing the tapping noise due to low oil. You may have some build up in side the push rod. I am not saying that this is the problem but you could start here.
Autozone sells the stethescopes for about $10. That could help pinpoint which side is the offender for you. If you can hear the noise above the accelerating engine then it could be what all was mentioned earlier. Get the cover off and have a look at it all.
For the "what its worth category", the K&N oil filter has an anti-drain valve that keep oil in the engine bearings while the engine is not running. This prevents some start up engine noise in my 89 coupe. Hope this is helpful!
Hey let me know what you find out or what works. I think I am having the same issue as you on my '99 FRC. I just had a H&C package installed and I have a very loud clicking noise that is coming from the top of the motor but seems to be on one side (passenger). It fluctuate in loudness as I acclerate or decellearate. I will let you know if I get it fixed as well. All the best.
