Default Injector size

I’m putting a new stock LT1 into my car. I’m not putting the vortech back in on this motor. I’m going to put the LT4 Hot cam in it. So my question is what size fuel injectors should I use? It has 42# ones in it now and I’m sure those are too big. I still have the stock ones with 75k miles on them should I clean them and use them or get a little larger ones? What size is the stock one? The car is a 95.

The stock injectors are 24lb, they should work great with the hot cammed LT1.

I remember that the 24lbs injectors and good for about 400 crank HP. So if you are planning for more HP you could use 27.4lbs LT4 injectors rated at 43.5 psi or the Z06 injectors 28.8lbs rated at 58.4 psi.

I and at least one other person run the Z06 injectors. There are a better injector and you can get a new set on eBay for $200. However, to make them fit you have to use a needle file to cut a groove all the way around (easy just takes time) for the top retaining ring because the factory only cut a groove on two sides.

I'm running SVO 24's with my hot cam setup and they are really too small. 30's would be better.

Guys I just went through this entire discussion on the Thirdgen with the tuners over there.

Corky and I are both running 24# injectors, mine at 45psi and his at 36psi.

Trust me, you can make more than 400RWHP with those injectors. I am able to maintain an AFR of 12.8 through the entire run, and Corky is running pig rich, down in the 10s for AFR with his injectors. So there is a lot left in the 24s to overmix his setup. As was my setup rich with the first chip. I had to pull a whole lot of injector pulse width out to get the 12.8 AFR.

The more OVERSIZED you go with the injectors, then the more tuning issues you will have to work through. And the less consistant the spray pattern etc will be, ultimately effecting efficiency of the AFR mixture.

Great thanks for all the info. Looks like I will use the stock ones but send them out to be cleaned. Guess I will be posting the 42# ones for sale soon. They are new only about 500 miles if that on them.

You may have to take into account rpm and engine type. The L98 (which ski_down_it has) redline is much lower that an LT4 (6400). I and another member where running out of pulsewidth with stock injectors. We just had hotcam and headers.

Notice that the Z06 28.8 lbs injectors run at 58.4 psi so the spray pattern is really good even at lower psi compared to SVO 24 lbs which rated at 39 psi.

My scanning software shows them hitting a 100% duty cycle at 6000 rpms. Injectors should never exceed about an 80 percent duty cycle.
