I removed my instrument cluster and reinstalled it and now notice that the "Check gauges" light is on. All my guages are working fine. This may be the Generals way of letting people know someone has messed with the cluster, Mileage etc. Does someone know how to reset it to turn this off?
Thanks
No idea, but also check your gas tank, if it's close to empty, the "Check Gauges" light comes on, also due to you disconnecting the battery, the fuel gauge sometimes doesn't read right until you reset it which may show a low fuel.
So try resetting the fuel gauge and fill the tank and see what happens. Anything beyond that, I don't know.
That sounds right. Check gauges is design to alert the driver when an extreme condition occurs.......gas on reserve with no bars, oil pressure at 5 PSI above 20 MPH (I think). Sometimes people don't pay attention but I light that screams "look here" will wake the driver up to a bad condition that is occuring. (some really don't get what a guage really does......go figure)
The car was not even to the "reserve" light on the gas but was below a 1/4 of a tank. I got it filled up and then the light flickered on and off until it finally stoped all together. Go figure. All the other readings were fine, oil pressure ect. I don't know what could have caused it. Maybe the moon was in the wrong phase or something.
You have a 91 this is a 93 schematic......they may be close but the only thing on mine that may affect your check guages light is a the low oil pressure switch. See attached picture, maybe your switch needs replacing..... :yesnod:
