Default fx3 code clearing solved

I found out that the EEPROM inside the ride control module was bad. It would not write new data to it but the data already inside was "permanent". I replaced the nmc9306en with another 93c06 that I just had layin around. So for fun I started using to prom burner to figure out out the control sequence that saves it data. Quite a simple process I might add. I put in a memory socket to play games with it. First time out of the gate.......codes cleared no problem......saved some coin as to not have to buy a new controller.

I'm interested in knowing if you were able to clear the code without disconnecting the batt?

No disconnecting the battery will not clear that code. I forced a 14 by disconnecting actuator and turning car on. Both codes remained and it would not go away with power disconnected. I had to do the above to get my controller back to "new" condition (eeproms don't last very long and ten years old....yeah I'd say it was due). Once I replaced the chip I put same two codes back in (14, 23.....easy to do) used the A to C 3 times and blamo......problem solved.....thanks for you help though I appriciate it.....

You make a complicated problem sound easy. I'm sure you saved yourself some serious money.

..thanks for you help though I appreciate it...
I had to stop and think what I did to help....oh yeah..."disconnect the batt.".... Big deal!

Kittmaster, my selective ride control light was coming on, but before I could get the codes read, it now does not light at all, even when the engine is started. The car had to be jumped before this happened. Fuse? If so where is the blasted thing? Thanks, Tom

The fuse on a 93 is "eng 2" which connects to "C16" on the ride control module. The service manual has a glitch.......in the power distribution section it lists 10 amps for the fuse but in the fx3 ride control schematics it shows 15. I'd say replace with what is in you car. If it pops again then I would take the attached components out attached to that line a troubleshoot from there.

HOWEVER........it may be something as SIMPLE as replacing the burned out bulb in the DIC (the place the bulb lights up). Go with this first to ensure the bulb is ok.......easily replaceable. Then check the fuse.
