I've never had a powdercoated a wheel before, but I was wondering if it was possible to powdercoat an entire ZR-1 wheel black, instead of leaving the lip polished silver like in this AFS wheel picture. Would that be damaged in putting new tires on?

The silver wheels from AFS (see sig) are powdercoated silver and do not have a polished lip. I do not see any reason why it could not be done in another color. I believe (but am not sure) that GM who painted, not powder coated, the GS rims left the rim polished so the paint would not chip when tires where mounted. AFS may leave the lip polished to better replicate the originals.
Yeah, thats my main concern, the chipping when mounting tires. I will have to ask the powdercoater. I was hoping that someone had done a total powdercoat, and could let me know how it worked out for them.
i have a small powdercoating business, so i can give you some insight :yesnod:
the entire rim can be coated no problem, if you take the paint off of them yourself it will save you some cash.when you have them mounted go to a shop who specializes in aftermarket wheels, that way they will take the precautions needed to avoid chipping or scratching them.
