Tranny Problems On The Track (I think)

I went to the strip for the first time yesterday, in my '93 A4 bone stock, besides the k/n Filter.

People were looking at my slips and couldn't understand it.

MPH 1/8 75.19
MPH 1/4 88.16

Going from 3rd to 4th the gears just do not wanna switch. It keeps going until it basically redlines, where im not picking up anymore speed then finally changes.

For starters your car shouldn't be going into OD at the end of the qtr mile. So is the car just overrevving when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd like you put it in "N"?

at around the 1/8 my revs are high, and I cannot pick up anymore speed.
The revs keep going for a tiny bit (I know its not eons of time :) ) then finally change and i can continue to pick up speed but by the time that is done im passed the line.

Im not sure if im explaining this correctly or not, but it makes sense to me :)

Anyone have an idea on what it might be.

Im a little more clear headed now, might be better able to describe.

Hmm your car should be winding out 3rd before switching to 4th.
Even with 3.07's I can wind 3rd to 117mph@5400rpms..
Either your tranny is way f-ed up or TV cable way misadjusted (Search on that topic to see). Or you have like 4.11 gears for some odd reason and don't knwo about it?

Your 1/8th mile seems 'ok' for a stock not too well tuned LT1. Check it out befor eyou race any more.. Might be doing more damage than good.

Yeah its wierd, gonna get it checked out before i go again June 1st.

It really put a bummer on the whole experience, tranny problems, and getting eatin by postangs. :(

Don't worry about it...everyone has good days and bad days. You found that you have a problem and now you can fix it. Once you do find the problem, you'll probably enjoy driving it more on the streets too :D

I agreee that it cold be as simple as a TV cable......do you a shift kit in it?

Nope, No shift kit.

Im hoping its nothing to serious, just bought it 3 months ago and was hoping to get atleast a year without some major problems.

Its hard being 20 and paying for insurance in canada. (Im talking multiple thousands :( )
