I think they helped to direct oil back onto the rocker arms.
I ground mine off too but in retrospect I now think it would have been better to leave small stubs. Anyway I had the valve covers off after a few thousand miles and didn't see any symptoms of excessive wear on my ProMagnums. So it may not be such a critical thing.
not anymore than normal, since I believe the general concensus is that they don't roll at all- the wheel stays fixed on the valve stem while the rocker arm itself keeps moving.
But they should get plenty of oil from the pushrods anyhoo, I think the tabs are to just help recycle oil back into the drainage system (more or less).
What kind of RRs do you have?? Are they self oiling?? Do they look like the stock rockers?? or do they look much more hefty?? Most of the 1.6RRs for chevy's I've seen are self oiling, and dont need drip tabs at all.
